New video: Astor Piazzolla’s “Oblivion”

[EN] Phew! After weeks spent on this baby, here it is, finally! My arrangement of “Oblivion” by genius Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla has a melodica, 4 saxophones, a few reharmonisations and a subtle change in rhythm (Danzón instead of Milonga, for all you latin music geeks out there ;-)). I hope you like it. It felt good to do play music again. Back to painting in a few days!

[FR] Ouf! Après des semaines passées sur ce petit bébé, le voici enfin! Mon arrangement “Oblivion” du génial compositeur Argentin Astor Piazzolla, comporte un melodica, quelques réharmonisations et un subtil changement de rythme (Danzón au lieu de Milonga, pour tous les geeks de musique latine ;-)), J’espère que vous aimerez. Ça a fait du bien de rejouer un peu de musique. Retour à la peinture dans quelques jours!

Moon River for SATB choir – sheet music

[EN] Last week I released this arrangement of Henry Macini’s “Moon River”.

Today, I am giving as a present the sheet music I wrote prior to the recording, because I believe music is made for sharing! So if you want to record your own version, go ahead, the only thing I will ask from you in return is to send me an audio or video recording so I can hear what it sounds like!

You will find the pdf scores at the end of this page.

Aujourd’hui, je vous offre les partitions que j’ai écrites avant d’enregistrer, parce que je crois que la musique est faite pour être partagée! Alors si vous voulez enregistrer votre propre version, allez-y, la seule chose que je vous demanderai en retour c’est de m’envoyer un enregistrement audio ou vidéo pour que je puisse entendre à quoi ça ressemble!

[EN] After “Don’t you worry ’bout a thing” and “Cry me a river” this past month, I am proud to present the third and last arrangement of this series that we recorded with my sister Laura over Christmas: Henry Mancini & Johnny Mercer’s “Moon River”.

“Moon River” is the main theme for the “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, a 1961 movie starring Audrey Hepburn. It features nostalgic lyrics about the author’s youth in Southern United States.

I arranged the theme for a 4-piece SATB (Soprano-Alto-Tenor-Bass) choir, then we recorded 21 (!) tracks of ourselves singing the 4 voices. It was great fun and a whole new experience for us. We hope you like it!

[FR] Après “Don’t you worry ’bout a thing” et “Cry me a river” ce mois dernier, je suis fier de vous présenter le troisième et dernier arrangement de cette série qu’on a enregistré avec ma sœur Laura à Noël: “Moon River” de Henry Mancini et Johnny Mercer.

“Moon River” est le thème principal de “Diamants sur canapé”, un film de 1961 avec Audrey Hepburn. Il possède des paroles nostalgiques à propos de la jeunesse de l’auteur dans le sud des Etats-Unis.

J’ai arrangé le thème pour un choeur SATB (Soprano-Alto-Ténor-Basse), puis on a enregistré 21 (!) pistes de nous-mêmes en train de chanter le 4 voix. C’était très amusant et surtout une nouvelle expérience pour nous. On espère que vous aimerez!

[EN] Last week I released this arrangement of Justin Timberlake‘s tune “Cry me a river”.

Today, I am giving as a present the sheet music I wrote prior to the recording, because I believe music is made for sharing! New video: Cry me a river

[EN] After Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t you worry ’bout a thing” last week, here is a new arrangement, this time of Justin Timberlake’s “Cry me a river”. For this video, I decided to go for a 12-part splitscreen so you can see (nearly) all the tracks that were recorded. We hope you enjoy watching every little detail because a lot of work went into it!

I will be publishing the sheet music for this next week.

[FR] Après “Don’t you worry ’bout a thing” de Stevie Wonder la semaine dernière, voici un nouvel arrangement, cette fois de “Cry me a river” de Justin Timberlake. Pour cette vidéo, j’ai décidé de partir sur un écran partagé en 12 pour que voyiez (presque) tous les instruments enregistrés. J’espère que vous aimerez regarder chaque petit détail car ça nous a demandé beaucoup de boulot!

[EN] At last! Here is the first of 3 arrangements I will be releasing this month. This week, a 5-piece acappella arrangement of Stevie Wonder‘s great tune “Don’t you worry ’bout a thing”. Laura & I had fun recording it, I hope you feel the same watching!

[FR] Enfin! Voici le premier de trois arrangements que je vais sortir ce mois-ci. Cette semaine, un arrangement a cappella à 5 voix du génial “Don’t you worry ’bout a thing” de Stevie Wonder. On s’est bien amusés à l’enregistrer avec Laura, j’espère que vous aussi en nous regardant!

[EN] Finally! I am very happy to unveil what I have been working on for the last 4 months: Not a live cover, but a totally new arrangement of a Stevie Wonder classic, “Isn’t she lovely“! I recorded all the instruments, mixed the music, and then shot and edited a multi-screen video all by myself 8-). As for Laura, she lent her great voice and made this project possible! (cheers lil’ sis’!)

Have a look and tell me what you think. In a couple days there will be another song, with an awesome video directed by my friend Guillaume Mroz… Stay tuned!

[FR] Enfin! je suis très content de dévoiler ce sur quoi j’ai travaillé pendant ces 4 derniers mois: Pas une reprise en live, mais un arrangement inédit d’un classique de Stevie Wonder, “Isn’t she lovely“! J’ai enregistré tous les instruments, mixé la musique, puis j’ai tourné et monté un clip multi-écrans tout seul comme un grand 8-). Quand à Laura, elle m’a prêté sa voix et a rendu ce projet possible! (merci la soeurette!)

Jetez un oeil et dites-moi ce que vous en pensez. Dans quelques jours il y aura une autre chanson, avec un clip génial mis en scène par mon ami Guillaume Mroz… Restez à l’écoute!

[EN] Hellooo everyone ! Autumn is coming, full of new stuff ! Check it out :

Afer playing “Rhapsody in Blue” and other classics with the OS20 Symphonic Orchestra last July, I spent most of my summer working on the upcoming Cool Cavemen album. It will be out on November 1st. You better get ready cos it’s gonna be big… we’ve been working on it for 5 years !

On another note, I have been rehearsing with the Rock Symphonic Orchestra for another Tribute to Toto concert on October 12th.

And finally, I filmed a video for another project blending a famous classical tune with Rock music that will be published soon… Get ready for a Mussorgsky-meets-Metallica piece !

[FR] Bonjouuur tout le monde ! L’automne arrive, plein de nouvelles choses ! Voyez plutôt :

Après avoir joué “Rhapsody in Blue et d’autres classiques avec l’Orchestre Symphonique du 20e en juillet dernier, jai passé une bonne partie de l’été à travailler sur le prochain album de Cool Cavemen. Il sortira le 1er novembre. Ca va être quelque chose d’énorme… Ca fait 5 ans qu’on travaille dessus !

Par ailleurs, j’ai repris les répétitions avec Le Rock Symphonic Orchestra pour un nouveau concert en hommage au groupe Toto qui aura lieu le 12 octobre.

Et enfin, j’ai filmé une vidéo pour un autre projet qui combine un morceau classique connu avec du Rock qui sortira bientôt… Préparez-vous à un truc du genre Moussorgsky-rencontre-Metallica !

Christmas Surprise

[EN] Merry Christmas everybody ! This week, I have a little present for you all !

As you saw during these last weeks, we worked with my friend Dam aka damdahu on three covers (Air, My Vitriol & Sevendust) that we filmed on his famous couch. After two days of hard work, we had to relax with something fun and this is what we did !

I hope you all enjoy the video. I’ll see you next year !

[FR] Joyeux Noël tout le monde ! Cette semaine, j’ai un petit cadeau pour tout le monde !

Comme vous l’avez vu pendant ces dernières semaines, on a travaillé avec mon pote Dam alias damdahu sur trois reprises (Air, My Vitriol & Sevendust) qu’on a filmées sur son fameux canapé. Après deux jours de dur labeur, il fallait qu’on se détende avec quelque chose de plus amusant et voici ce qu’on a fait !
