Transcription – Air’s “Playground Love”

[EN] Hello everybody ! After seeing my version of Air‘s “Playground Love”, someone asked me if I could transcribe the original smooth tenor solo by Hugo Ferran for him. You will find my transcriptions on this page, in original tenor Bb, but also in concert pitch and Eb for alto and baritone sax players. I hope you enjoy it !

[EN] Merry Christmas everybody ! This week, I have a little present for you all !

As you saw during these last weeks, we worked with my friend Dam aka damdahu on three covers (Air, My Vitriol & Sevendust) that we filmed on his famous couch. After two days of hard work, we had to relax with something fun and this is what we did !

I hope you all enjoy the video. I’ll see you next year !

Comme vous l’avez vu pendant ces dernières semaines, on a travaillé avec mon pote Dam alias damdahu sur trois reprises (Air, My Vitriol & Sevendust) qu’on a filmées sur son fameux canapé. Après deux jours de dur labeur, il fallait qu’on se détende avec quelque chose de plus amusant et voici ce qu’on a fait !

J’espère que vous apprécierez tous la vidéo. Je vous dis à l’année prochaine !

The Couch Sessions : Omashay & Damdahu cover Sevendust’s “Angel’s Son”

[EN] Here is the third video from the Couch Sessions we organised with my friend Damien aka damdahu. After covering Air and My Vitriol, we chose a song from American band Sevendust called “Angel’s Son”. It was quite a technical challenge, both for vocals and guitar, so we hope you like it !

[FR] Voici la troisième vidéo des sessions canapé qu’on a organisé avec mon ami Damien alias damdahu. Après après avoir repris Air et My Vitriol, on a choisi une chanson du groupe américain Sevendust appelée “Angel’s Son”. C’était un défi technique, à la fois pour le chant et la guitare, alors on espère que vous aimerez !

[EN] Following last week’s “Playground Love”, here is the latest song recorded during The Couch Sessions: a cover of My Vitriol‘s “Always : your way”.

We recorded this song on my friend Dam‘s famous couch and wanted to share it with you. We hope you like it!

[EN] Yippee ! If ever you were wondering what I was up to lately, here’s the answer : I hung out with my friend Dam from Cool Cavemen and we recorded several covers together on his legendary couch (check out the same couch on his guitar cover videos !).

Here is our first cover : “Playground Love” by Air, from the “Virgin Suicides” OST. We really hope you like it !

[FR] Youpi ! Si jamais vous vous demandiez ce que je faisais dernièrement, voici la réponse : j’ai traîné avec mon ami Dam de Cool Cavemen et on a enregistré plusieurs reprises ensemble sur son légendaire canapé (allez voir ce même canapé sur ses vidéos de reprises de guitare !).

Voici notre première reprise : “Playground Love” de Air, de la BO de “Virgin Suicides”. On espère que vous aimerez !

[EN] Today, I wanted to share with you the sheet music for two tracks I recorded on Cool Cavemen‘s albums called “Funkysaxplayer” & “Funkysaxplayer II”.

They are two short pieces written for sax quartet. If you like Funk, if you like sax, you’re bound to like them!

[FR] Aujourd’hui, je voulais partager avec vous les partitions de deux titres que j’ai enregistré sur des albums de Cool Cavemen et qui s’appellent “Funkysaxplayer” & “Funkysaxplayer II”.

Ce sont deux courtes pièces pour quatuor de sax. Si vous aimez le Funk, si vous aimez le sax, vous les aimerez très certainement !

[EN] More than a month without any post on omashay.com ! I must get back to work !

I wanted to tell you about some musical collaborating in which I took part a few months ago, for Cool Cavemen‘s drummer Tomasson’s other band. They are called Trapped in Freedom and have just released a six-track album called “Six Frites Under” (Frites = French fries) and it rocks !

They asked me to play sax and percussion on their songs and to arrange a some horns (click on the links for more detail). They have a very unique sound, and I was happy to help them create it on their record. Enjoy !

[FR] Plus d’un mois sans post sur omashay.com ! Je dois absolument me remettre au travail !

Je voulais vous parler d’une collaboration musicale à laquelle j’ai participé il y a quelques mois, pour l’autre groupe de Tomasson, batteur de Cool Cavemen. Ils s’appellent Trapped in Freedom et viennent juste de publier un 6-titres nommé “Six Frites Under” et ça déchire !

Ils m’ont demandé de jouer du sax et des percus sur leurs chansons et d’arranger des cuivres (cliquez sur les liens pour plus de détail). Ils ont un son unique, et j’étais heureux de pouvoir les aider à l’élaborer sur leur album. J’espère que vous apprécierez !

One year ago : Where is she – the video

[EN] Time to celebrate ! It has been one year since I published my video for my song “Where is she”. It still makes me smile thinking of all the memories linked to the video’s shooting (see for yourself here).

A few weeks ago, my friend Kevin (who shot the greatest part of this video) published some really interesting productions notes. There are some nice pictures, you should check them out ! On a less technical note, check out this video where I get chased by a police car (OK, not really chased, but…) !

[FR] C’est l’heure de faire la fête ! Cela fait un an que j’ai publié ma vidéo pour mon titre ‘Where is she”. Repenser à tous les souvenirs liés au tournage me fait encore sourire (voyez plutôt ici.)

Il y a quelques semaines, mon pote Kevin (qui a filmé la plus grande partie de ce clip) a publié des notes de production très intéressantes. Il y a de jolies photos, vous devriez aller voir ! Sur une note moins technique, regardez cette vidéo ou je suis poursuivi par une voiture de police (OK, pas vraiment poursuivi, mais…) !

[EN] I have just added a new “arrangements” section to omashay.com. I love arranging, adapting music for different instrumental ensembles : here, you will find a section for horns, strings and one for miscellaneous groups.

I have only posted arrangements that have already been played at least once, but I have tons more that have never been performed, I just need to find musicians willing to try them out ! If you are looking for a musical piece for your ensemble, I would me more than pleased to answer your request (see the contact form below).

[FR] Je viens juste d’ajouter une nouvelle partie “arrangements” à omashay.com. J’adore arranger, adapter de la musique pour différents ensembles instrumentaux : ici, vous trouverez une section pour les cuivres, les cordes et une pour diverses formations.

J’ai uniquement posté des arrangements qui ont été joués au moins une fois, mais j’en ai des tonnes d’autres qui n’ont jamais été interprétés, j’ai juste besoin de trouver des musiciens volontaires pour les essayer ! Si vous cherchez un morceau pour votre ensemble, je serais ravi de répondre à votre demande (voir le formulaire plus bas).

Clichy Marching Band in London

[EN] ‘ello guvnor !

Last June I went with Clichy’s Marching Band to London for the weekend ! We were asked to play there by Clichy’s twin town, the London borough of Southwark, for the Armed Forces Day. Here’s a little video summarizing the best moments (Sorry for the French-spoken parts ; I am still waiting for Youtube to have a decent subtitles tool !). Thanks to everyone for being part of this, I really enjoyed it !

PS I have a solo at 5’06 😉

En juin dernier je suis parti avec le Marching Band de la ville de Clichy en week-end à Londres ! La ville de Southwark – district de Londres et ville jumelle de Clichy – nous a demandé de jouer pour une commémoration officielle. Voici une petite vidéo qui résume les meilleurs moments. Merci à tout le monde d’avoir participé, j’ai vraiment adoré !

PS Je fais un solo à 5’06 😉
